Road Trip 2011 III Oslo - Bari

Back to Germany through Denmark, my girlfriend from the "love caravan" works in a cruise company, So she was able to get a free ticket on the "Larvik- Hirtshals" ferry for me.
A 4.1/2 hours trip.
The route in Denmark was an indifferent 2-lane motorway in each direction - in a completely flat country. Surprising - although I began to get used to culture - the perfect parking.
Separate the trucks, cars, cambers. Clean spaces, toilets for dogs, drinking water, well-kept tables, and benches.
Believe me, I did not just stop at one... Impeccable road and no toll.
Overnight stay at parking on E 45 near "Alborg" 88 km from "Hirtshals".

You see in the controversial Parkplatz 12 € on its extension of St Pauli Hafensrabe the Grobe Elbstrabe in the area of "Sunday Fish Market". it was No space at all and a nightclub next to it...

Sunday departure from secondary roads to the city “Taucha” next to ”Leipzig”- there I would stay in the courtyard of a friend from the "love caravan", we drive back together- to enjoy a musical "hippie" festival- with a stop at “Goslar” for a short tour, beautiful medieval city, The evening free camping in the mountain after “Bad Harzburg”

Early in the morning after the remaining 20 km arrival at "Dresden" and settlement in the empty- early time, 8:30 am- parking. "Antons Platz" Square. It is just a stone's throw from the incredibly beautiful historic centre.

The parking 2 € per hour, but I paid only for the first hour. Surprisingly, I did not find any ticket even though I stayed all day and night and was not the only my motorhome there...
No one tells me that passing across from the historic bridge in front of the cathedral on the other side of the river on the right and on the right again It is a Parkplatz for cambers- not free- in a beautiful shady space with a guard.

Dresden, the historic centre of course, incredibly beautiful, small and tidy, you can turn it on foot. Friendly and not very expensive like all of Germany.

Berlin-Nuremberg
The return journey begins. Tickets for Patras from Bari are on 03 August. So the design of the last 9 days was agreed- my daughter came back with me, she lives in Berlin-  as follows.
First-day visit and overnight in "Nuremberg", -443 km - in free parking for motorhomes, in the park next to the "arena".

Nuremberg - Innsbruck

after a visit to the once ascetic and now highly touristic "Assisi" which nevertheless deserves a visit.

616 km. At 11:30 pm in the camping weekend time, the absolute chaos! It has taken us more than half an hour to find a place in the middle of motorhomes, caravans, cars, tents and even sleeping backs... 35 € three people and the motorhome.

"Rome"
A Sunday morning visit with the van, empty from cars but not from tourists... Parking in the Vatican, by the Tiber and next to the Parliament without any problem!!!

Rome now, amazing! Definitely promised to ourselves a long-term visit at the future...

on the way to "Pompeii", 285 km, passing through "Naples" and stopping only for coffee.

 After "Rome", it, unfortunately, changed in a third-world country... Unpledged roads, rubbish, traffic jams in "Naples". Abnormal road behaviour with violation of any priority and provision of the law. I wonder how all these, and especially the cyclists, manage to remain alive in this futile world.
Worse I've only seen in "Istanbul" and I've heard about "Cairo"!

Resulting: on the 285 km route, I need 7:30 driving hours!!!
Try to avoid at all costs crossing Naples from its coastal road! And all this till to "Pompeii". They are stick together.

Pompeii
Camping in "Pompeii" opposite the entrance to the archaeological site - as advertised!
Unacceptable. Next to the lines of the train - fortunately, it stops at night- and without toilet paper !!! Neither kitchen. The day is also and car parking of the visitors of Pompeii. The only reason to stay is the inexpensive price - 20 €, three people, motorhome - does not charge the dogs and you save the expensive parking ticket. He asked me for 5 € for WiFi internet when it is free in the pizza shop just at the entrance!

"Pompeii", is another sense! Only the fact that you are wandering around in a 2000-year-old city, is worth! The only bad impressions, the many padlocks right and left of the road.

An excursion to Mount Vesuvius can also be arranged here.

Two whole days will be needed for the tour and therefore not less than two nights.

"Bari"
The route to Bari, one of the same. The same dirt and the same anarchy in driving up to Potenza over the last 140 km are loose on a provincial road.

I arrived in the harbour around 4 in the afternoon to check the tickets. At the prompting of the girl to board as soon as the start time of 5pm - the ship departs at 8pm - we decided to wait in the bar at the entrance to the pier. we are the first van for "camping on board" but the car and we were boiled at 38c under a ruddy shade with unacceptable snacks and beer "Peperoni" 2 € the little glass...

The finances now, inevitably. So we have a total of 2,607 € car and ticket costs. Without using any toll roads in Italy, Austria, there are tolls and expensive! I used secondary roads. In Germany and Denmark do not exist toll. In Norway, there are - not many - most without even bars. If you want, you pay it, they consciously pay for it. electronics are now another story. They are mostly at the entrances of major cities and operate with cameras. there is a way to pre=pay them over the internet and deduct the amount otherwise mail to the owner...
So, briefly, this wonderful journey took place over three months
11.027 km with consumption of 1069 litres of oil worth 1.630 €.

The vignettes for Austria 14 € & 8 € tolls for 52kilms !!! - by mistake - in Austria. Germany - Denmark (Puttgarden-Rodby) "Scandlines". 84 €
